Hardware and software that I use
Hardware
I bought a Thinkpad X1 Carbon Gen 10 (Intel Core i7, 16 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD) Laptop in 2022. It’s great for running linux, very lightweight and arguably the best keyboard on any laptop.
For my mobile, I’ve been using a Google Pixel 7 Phone. Although I’m not the biggest Google fan, I wanted a Pixel since its first release.
My audio needs are fulfilled by Google Pixel Buds Pro and a SkullCandy Hesh 2 Headphone (I got them as a gift in 2017 & they are still working somehow?)
I occasionaly game on my PlayStation 4 and use BenQ Zowie RL2455 (24 inches) Monitor as it’s display and also as secondary display for my laptop.
I have an Amazfit Active 2 for fitness tracking.
Software
Arch Linux is my OS of choice with yay to manage AUR packages. I love it’s rolling release philosophy and contrary to popular belief, it rarely breaks on upgrade.
Neovim for all text editing. I’ve been a vim user since my university days and I’m glad to have stuck with it. I sometimes use Typora when writing requires extra focus.
I use Kitty with oh-my-zsh as my terminal emulator.
Firefox is the first-choice browser with the following extensions:
- uBlock Origin
- Tab Session Manager
- Firefox Multi-Account Containers
- Enhancer for YouTube
- Auto Tab Discard
- Video Speed Controller
Foliate and YACR (Yet another comic reader) for ebooks and comics, and AnyType as my personal digital garden.
I use both Proton (for privacy) and Google Suite (due to legacy) for mail, calendar & documents. The goal is to eventual minimise dependency on Google.
I have Bitwarden for managing my passwords and use Spotify for music
I also use Digital Ocean for hosting some toy projects.
Terminal
Some amazing software I want to give a shout out to:
